cookie-ness

Have you ever gotten that email about the Niemen Marcus cookies?  You know the one with the story about the women being billed $10,000 for the recipe, you deleted it didn't you. Go ahead admit it, I know you did.  Well I didn't and I made them and they are the best damn cookies ever.  Now this is were I entice you with cookie porn.

mmmmm cookie dough!

Stacks and stacks of cookie love.

I have been using this recipe for years and are by far the best, in my opinion.  They are thick and huge with tons of choco chips.  When they first come out of the oven they look under done but when they cool they are perfect.

Neiman Marcus Cookie Recipe

(Recipe may be halved):
2 cups butter
4 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
2 cups sugar
5 cups blended oatmeal
24 oz. chocolate chips
2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla

** Measure oatmeal and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla; mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add chocolate chips, . Roll into balls and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.

These cookies are going to a good friend for her b-day along with a loaf of brioche, hope she likes the cookie love.

quiltie

Here is the quilt that started the other quilt that took over me finishing this quilt, got it. I have been dieing to do a pieced quilt like this and a friend’s new baby gave me a good reason to do it. I also have wanted a reason to learn appliqué and hey another good reason to do that, a big C for the babies name shall go atop this quilt. Any who it is quilted bound and washed, now ready for baby to be born any day now and will be presented at said time.

It is beyond HOT her in the great state of Georgia, it really would not be so bad if the humidity did not make you feel like the wicked witch of the west as soon as you stepped foot out the door, I'M MELTING!

When people visit this place from someplace else they are always surprised to know we have air conditioning absolutely everywhere like, elevators, stairwells, and public bathrooms. The reason for all this glorious pumped in chilled air is we would all die of heat stroke if it were not here. I am also convinced it is GA that inspired the amazing invention of air conditioned seats in cars, I myself do not have these as I drive a German car but I dream of them daily, my ass gets seriously hot and sweaty from June to September. Wow that sentence is going to get me some traffic.

healthy enough to craft

Finally everyone is healthy, and I can get back to the buisness of daily living.  The little one was pretty sick there for a few days running high fevers and sleeping all the time.  Hot babes make me nervous, I have visions of little brains frying and slow adults, at one point I put an ice pack on his wee head to cool him till the motrin kicked in.

I just finished up a quilt for a friend who's baby is due Sat. and LD was very excited about it and declared he needed to make a quilt too.  So the idea was he follow the same steps I do, draw, peice, sew.

This is his drawing also known as our inspiration, it needed a bit of clarifying or as I like to say "the planning step".

Now that is a bit better!  Of course it is LD approved, he even had me add the circles as he said it needed them, a sign of a true artist huh.  We then picked out fabric from my stash and cut the peices.  He helped me piece it together and then quilt the whole thing.  I did the binding as it is the hardest part but in the end we had a racoon quilt, not a doll quilt, god forbid we call it a doll quilt.

Now he wants to make a big quilt, he has already covered six pieces of paper with his design, oh my!

holy crapical

This little bug has been the serious sickie for the past 5 days.  A shot of antibiotics in the bum yesterday has finally got him on a road to recovery.  The past 2 days have seen me up at all hours giving tylenol to a non compliant babe and basically getting it all upchucked on me two min. later.  The only good thing about sick babes is they hold still for pics.  Oh you did'nt think his name was actually ldII did you.

days

This is pretty much what my day looks like, me holding a baby with hair back wearing a sour milk smelling tank. Yes this is what motherhood really looks like; come on in the water is fine.

The baby has been fussy for the past few days making every moment he is awake filled with a wee whining noise that escalates to crying pretty quickly. The hubby broke out the huge monstrosity that is the SWING and the child seems to like the back and forth. I am only too happy to not be the one providing the back and forth right now, I was starting to feel like I lived on the Bearing Sea.

We are finally going to the lake this weekend; our trip for Memorial Day was canceled because of storms. We already have water guns and bubbles ready to entertain LD and my boobs are always on hand to entertain the other two. Packing should be interesting though as we now have more to pack and less space to put it in, yeah.

In diaper news I still really love cloth diapers, and really do think they could have saved the Titanic. I have been looking into other cover options because I am thinking once he starts to move the diaper itself maybe less leak proof but we will just have to see. I have learned that Woolite is really great for washing diapers and that when lanolizing you really should use hotish water so the lanoline stays liquitized. The sun is also the best way to get out any stains that will not come out in the wash, I am sure my neighbors really love me now.

Well here is to me getting out of these smelly clothes and into some others I can stink up in a hurry. Have a good weekend, and wear sunscreen for gods’ sake.
